About Me

Genesis Duran, is an 18-year-old female from the Dominican republic currently a student at The City College Of New York, although she is an undecided major, she hopes to become an architect someday. Playing games like Minecraft and sims growing up, lead to her wanting to help design homes for the same people who gave her a home to live in and for people who need a home also.

She lives in Uptown Manhattan, in Washington Heights, where music is heard all around and colors is not only seen but also heard and tasted in food, music, and even in the air.

Not only is she a student, but she is also an artist, and athlete who plays soccer, basketball, and volleyball, and she is also a daughter to a hard-working single mother. Having a hardworking mother, sparked genesis’s spirit of being hardworking and wanting to succeed in life. Genesis is also an older sister to a beautiful little girl. As an older sister, she helps her sibling by helping her with the homework and taking her to school in the mornings.

As a writer genesis likes poetry because it helps her clear her mind when needing someone to talk to. She has a diary full of poetry about how she feels or how a certain point in her life has affected her.

Genesis feels like her writing journey just started since her writing confidence was crushed during English classes in elementary and high school. In the past, she was told that she needed “perfect” English and grammar to become a writer but now her English 110 professor told her otherwise and placed her on a different path than what she once knew.
