Source 2: Even immigrants with greencards, immigrants face hiring discrimination based onwhere they were born

A. Nicole Kreisberg, research interests include immigrant, racial, and gender stratification, labor markets and educational institutions, and law, organizations, and society. Nicole Kreisberg in her article “ Even with green cards, immigrants face hiring discrimination based on where they were born” publish on Feb,7,2022, implies that even if immigrants have the legal documentation to be able to work, they are still being treated unfairly and discriminated on by those who are hiring, this affected immigrants with green cards negatively because it leads to be having a hard time to find a job. She supports her claim by telling someone’s story and conducting her own experiments for research. For example, it states “ He didn’t know why. Carlos finally had what he needed to work, a college degree, and his green card, but the door was slammed shut anyway. Carlos isn’t alone.” To add on “So in 2019, I came up with a plan to find out what would happen if companies were faced with two equally educated, equally trained Latinos applying for a job: one born in the U.S. and one born abroad… I was shocked to see just how often employers discriminate against foreign-born candidates. Employers called back foreign-born candidates for a job interview nearly half as often as native-born candidates”. By using someone’s story many immigrants can feel controlled knowing that they are not alone. To add only conducting her own experiment Kreisber adds real data into her article that supports that, “Even immigrants with green cards, immigrants face hiring discrimination based on where they were born”. Kreisberg’s purpose for writing this article is to shed light on the topic of immigrants facing discrimination just because of where they came from. Because of the authors tone you can tell he is writing for the immigrant and Law audience.
